How it works

How to convert GLB to OBJ

  1. 1

    Add a GLB or glTF

Drop a .glb, or a .gltf with embedded data. Compressed files are decoded for you.

  2. 2

    Choose objects

Keep every mesh in one OBJ as separate objects, or write one OBJ per mesh.

  3. 3

    Download the OBJ

Save geometry-only OBJ files, sized in millimeters and standing Y-up.

Features

Why use this GLB to OBJ converter

Built for getting geometry out of glTF scenes and into programs that read OBJ.

Private, in your browser

Your GLB is read and converted on your own computer and never uploaded. Files up to 300 MB are accepted.

Connected, smooth meshes

Matching corners are welded and smooth vertex normals are written, so each object imports as one clean mesh.

Batch to one ZIP

Drop several GLB or glTF files at once and download every OBJ together in a single ZIP.

Resize before you download

Enter a length in millimeters to scale the model so its longest side matches before the OBJ is written.

Format comparison

What changes when GLB becomes OBJ

The shape carries over completely. The extras glTF bundles for real-time rendering stay behind.

Kept

  • Every mesh, as a named object
  • Mesh positions and scene layout
  • Y-up orientation
  • Draco and meshopt compressed meshes

Left behind

  • Textures and PBR materials
  • Animations, skins and morph targets
  • UV coordinates
  • Cameras and lights
FAQ

GLB to OBJ questions

Answers about materials, units, Draco files, animation and cost.

Does the OBJ include materials and textures?
No. The converter writes geometry only, which is what printing and most modeling cleanup need. Keep the GLB if you need the textures.
What units does the OBJ use?
Millimeters, the unit slicers expect. In Blender, import with a scale of 0.001 to get back to meters.
Can it open Draco-compressed GLB files?
Yes. Draco and meshopt files are decoded in your browser before conversion.
Are animations kept?
No. OBJ cannot store animation, so animated and rigged models are exported in their rest pose.
Is the GLB to OBJ converter free?
Yes. It is free, unlimited and runs in your browser without uploading anything.
